Job Summary

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an exceptional individual to join our Estates & Facilities Division as a Sustainability Coordinator on a fixed term contract until the 31st march 2027. This is a Trust-wide role that plays a key part in delivering our commitment to Net Zero and environmental sustainability through the implementation of the LTHT Green Plan.

As the Sustainability Coordinator, you will support the Environment Team in implementing a coordinated, Trust-wide approach to sustainability. You will assist in the management and monitoring of:

  • Travel and transport
  • Energy consumption
  • Water usage
  • Waste management
  • Carbon emissions across the Trust estate

Through efficient environmental management, you will help drive reduced resource use, lower costs, and improved patient and staff experience.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to develop and extend specialised skills and knowledge in environmental management and sustainability within a large NHS provider organisation.

What you will bring to the role

The Sustainability Co-ordinator will work within the Environment Team to co-ordinate a Trust wide approach to Net Zero and sustainability issues, through implementation of the LTHT Green Plan Sustainable Action Plan.

To assist the Environment Team in the implementation of policies and strategies that will achieve national, local and trust wide Net Zero and sustainability targets including the elements of Carbon Footprint, Energy, Water, Waste, Travel and Transport, Procurement and Green Space and Biodiversity.

Provide on-going support to the Environment Team to ensure compliance with legislation, codes of practice and sector guidance.

Liaising with staff and suppliers to collate, analyse and interpret data, assisting the Environment Team Department managers to make recommendations to improve the sustainability of the Trusts service provision.

Provide support to the Environment Team with the development of schemes/bids/business cases for obtaining local and central funding.

Support with delivery of projects relating to Net Zero and sustainability.

Support the Environment Team to deliver engagement and communication initiatives.

Champion the Net Zero and sustainability agenda, driving forward the Trusts green credentials.
